Team Foy out in force!

Sunday 6 September was a great day for Team Foy! I took Anthony to the Grange, in Devon to do the Medium qualifier and the Medium freestyle, to try to make up for the mistakes at Sparsholt in July. Considering he has only done a couple of Medium tests, I was not expecting much, just some match practice, but was thrilled to win the Open qualifier on a mark of 64.7%, which now means a part qualification for the Winter Regionals. I did feel he was a bit behind my leg, so worked on his impulsion for the freestyle, which he won by miles on 73.59%!!! He felt fantastic and I was so pleased with his effort, he really is a reformed character thes days.

Back in the lorry, I picked up my messages to find that pupil Jade Rose had won the Novice 38 Restricted Qualifier at Equisense on her own Hauptstutbuch Wandall (Wanda) and pupil Kate Palmer had won the Novice 35 non qualifier on her own Lavane (Blaze). Well done to both!! Kate and Blaze are enjoying a late start in dressage after a successful eventing career, and we had practised the tests the day before. Kate has a novel way of remembering the letters, naming them after popular drinks, V is for Vodka, P for Pernod, B for Beer etc. She then just has to go on a bar crawl around the arena, no wonder she looks so happy!!

Toro went to Wellington Area Festival on Wednesday 9th Sept, where he was 2nd in the Advanced Medium Qualifier, and placed 9th in the Pet Plan Prix St Georges. I was particularly pleased to get a 9 for entry, was worth practising all those centre lines!

Finally enjoying a bit of sunshine in this Indian summer weather, but coats are sneakily getting woolier and so clipping, rugs, mud and cold feet beckon. I have had a fantastic season with the boys, all have done so well and now with some very concentrated winter training I am feeling positive about next year.
